Windows Phone Market Share – India ranks in 2nd Position for Windows Phones Globally

AdDuplex, largest cross-promotion network for Windows Phone and Windows 8 apps, has published a report on top countries with Windows phone users. This chart is based on data from 11 global apps and games that served AdDuplex ads on July 8th, 2014. The ads have been served to around 200,000 users on July 8th. The ads were set to be global & could have been affected by ad strategies of the app publishers.

USA is the top Windows phone market with 11% market share followed by India at 7.5%, Brazil at 6.9% & others.

Xiaomi Mi3 smartphone Launched in India at an Insane price of Rs 14,999

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has officially launched the Xiaomi Mi3 in India at an insane price of Rs 14,999. Pre-registartions for the phone is available from july 15th onwards & at this price level it has created a great interest in the mobile market. The tech specs & hardware of the phone is available in some high end phones like Nexus 5, Sony xperia z & others at a high price point.

It has a 5-inch 1080p display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor@2.3GHz, 2GB RAM, 16GB of memory, a 13-MP camera & a dual-LED flash. It runs on Android jelly bean 4.2 with a customized MIUI on top. Xiaomi’s phones have been sold out in countries where it was launched earlier in a short time span & one has to register early to have a hands on the phone. It recently hired Jabong’s co-founder Manu Jain as the head of operations in India. With Android L to be launched in the coming months, will Xiaomi provide regular Andorid updates..?

Guardians of the Skies – Indian Air Force(IAF) launches Mobile 3D Game

Indian Air Force has launched the 1st official 3D mobile game called the “GUARDIANS OF THE SKIES”. Through this game, IAF, plans to encourage boys & Girls of the country to join IAF & serve the country. This is the first Campaign based air combat game on android mobile platform and has the most elaborate collection of flying missions. The game features Zaruzia, a country planning to wage war on India and features the SU 30, M2000, Tejas, Phalcon AWACS, C130, Mi 17, Mi 35 and ALH Dhruv aircraft.

This is a very good move by IAF by utilizing the mobile platform to reach & encourage the youths. The Guardians runs on configuration above 1Ghz dual core with 1 GB RAM. Currently, 3D mobile Game Guardians of the Skies is only available on Android. Windows Phone will get it on 15th July, and the iOS release is planned for later.

Xiaomi India’s Official Website goes live

Chine Smartphone Maker Xiaomi has launched its Indian website at . The website doesn’t have any information about when the products will be launched in India & how it will be sold. They also have an official facebook India page & can be liked from their Indian site. Xiaomi recently hired Manu Kumar Jain as the General Manager for India. They have set a target of 100,000 likes for their facebook page & this is also shown on their Indian website. This is a clever move by Xiaomi to connect with the Indian fans first before launching the product.

Xiaomi is known globally for affordable & great Android phones & has created a unique brand name globally. Mi3, RedMi, RedMi Note are some of its products & currently sells in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and Malaysia. It mainly sells through its website & its products have a great demand globally.

Ericsson’s mobility report for June provides a host of information on the state of mobile globally. Some of the important features of the report are

1) Total mobile subscriptions in Q1 2014 is around 6.8 billion.

2) Global mobile subscriptions grown at 7 % Yearly and 2% quarlerly. Global mobile penetration reached 93% in Q1 2014.

How travellers are using Mobile in Indian Airports ? – An AdNear Study

AdNear has released a study on the mobile usage behaviour of Travellers In Indian airports covering Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai & Bangalore airports. The sample size was 0.65 Million users over a period of 3 months.

1) Average time spend on Mobile is 1.61 hrs per user.

2) Mumbai travellers had 14% higher engagement as compared to the average time on mobile.

3) Bangalore travellers were lower on mobile engagement compared to travellers in 5 cities.

4) Mumbai travellers are either more mobile savvy or have easier access to Wifi

5) Audience trends: 3.4% Students, 4.2% home makers & 4.6% affluent & professionals.
